The Organized Crime Unit Lahore of the Punjab Police conducted a raid in the Defence area, where they apprehended the criminal gang that had been looting families after luring them into marrying.
According to the police officials, the main aim of this gang was to trap innocent families by making fake marriage promises and then the other gangs members will go the groom’s house to rob it.
The gang would take the groom’s family hostage and escape with the bride. During the raid, the police recovered hefty amounts of cash, gold ornaments, and a bridal dress from the gang’s possession.
The arrested individuals have confessed to several robberies, according to the police.
According to DSP OCU Raees Ahmed Khan, the gang consisted of four members, including a bride and a Nikah Khawan. He explained that the gang’s tactics involved exploiting unsuspecting families by pretending to arrange a legitimate marriage, only to rob them afterwards.
