LAHORE: The Railways Department has decided to privatize 11 trains to provide better travel facilities and increase revenue.
The Railways spokesperson said that under this decision, 11 trains will be privatized, including Hazara Express, Bahauddin Zakaria Express, Millat Express, Rawal, and Badra Express.
In addition, Ghauri Express, Ravi Express, Thal Express, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, and Mohenjo-Daro Passenger Train will also be privatized.
Earlier, Pakistan Railways announced an increase in fares for its express trains, freight services, and saloon coaches, effective June 20, 2025.
According to a spokesperson, express trains and saloons will see a 3% hike, while freight train fares will rise by 4%.
The fare revision has been formally notified, and railway authorities say the move is intended to balance rising operational expenses and generate additional resources for service improvements.
