LAHORE: The SHO, duty officer and four police officers of Lahore’s Johar Town police station have been suspended following a complaint by a female member of the Punjab Assembly from the Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
The incident reportedly involved police misconduct with MPA Shazia Abid’s son and niece, which she raised during a session of the Punjab Assembly.
Shazia Abid said her son and niece were returning from university when they were stopped and harassed by Johar Town police officers.
She further claimed that the officers demanded a bribe of Rs 200,000.
After learning that the boy’s mother was a member of the provincial assembly, the police allegedly tried to intimidate them before releasing them.
