Solar buyers hit by price hike before budget day

KARACHI: Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has made a landmark pronouncement concerning the distribution of solar panels to deserving households of the province.

The drive is primarily intended to complete the distribution of solar panels across 200,000 households by July 31, 2025, and is supported by the World Bank. The purpose of the project is to provide relief to poor households and encourage the use of renewable energy in the province.

In a recent meeting, Minister Shah stressed the need for fast-tracking distribution under the directives of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and the chief minister of Sindh.

He instructed his officials to distribute 1,600 solar home systems across all districts every month with 400 solar systems as the weekly target per district.

Further, he directed that the 50,000 solar panels kept in storage should be distributed in 30 days, and after that, a report should be submitted to him.

Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani was also present at the meeting; he appreciated the united effort of the provincial government for the resilient accomplishment of this project.

Concerning the distribution process, special ceremonies will be organized in collaboration with the local administrations. This will not only draw attention to the importance of renewable energy but also let the community gather and celebrate this huge achievement.

The distribution of solar panels should further impact positively on the lives of thousands of such families in Sindh, giving them a reliable and sustainable energy source.
