Turkiye’s President Erdogan to land in Pakistan for two day visit

Erdogan praises Pakistan role in regional ceasefire

ISLAMABAD: The President of Turkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is set to arrive in Pakistan on Wednesday for a two-day visit, invited by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

He’ll be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers, senior officials, and corporate leaders. During his visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Erdogan will co-chair the 7th Session of the Pakistan-Turkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, the highest-level decision-making forum for strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

They will also sign a Joint Declaration and several important agreements and MoUs, and address a joint press stakeout.

President Erdogan will have bilateral meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari. The Pakistan– Turkiye Business and Investment Forum will be addressed together with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

This forum will see participation from leading investors, companies, and business persons to enhance cooperation in various sectors such as trade, investment, banking, finance, culture, tourism, energy, defense, agriculture, transport, communication, IT, health, science and technology, and education.

The High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council has several Joint Standing Committees covering these sectors. Thus far six sessions have been completed; the last one took place in Islamabad on February 13-14, 2020.

The visit is expected to further deepen the historic fraternal ties between Pakistan and Turkiye, and enhance multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

With the signing of important agreements and MoUs, and the discussion of various sectors, this visit is a significant step towards consolidating the relationship between Pakistan and Turkiye.
