What to do if a WhatsApp account is hacked? PTA explains the complete method

PTA issues advisory for WhatsApp users linked to inactive SIMs

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued important instructions in this regard so that users can recover their account and protect themselves for the future.

According to the PTA, first of all, the user should delete the WhatsApp application from their mobile. After that, reinstall the app and register their mobile number. During registration, a verification code will be received on the user’s number, with the help of which the account can be restored.

The authority said that it is very important to enable two-step verification to protect the account. With the help of this feature, it becomes difficult for any unauthorized person to access the account.

PTA has advised users to avoid clicking on any suspicious link or file. Apart from this, keep changing the passwords of mobile phones and apps regularly. If you notice any unusual activity, contact WhatsApp support immediately.

Experts say that running an antivirus scan can also be beneficial, as it identifies any malicious software present in the mobile. By following these precautions, not only can a hacked account be recovered but personal information can also be kept safe.

The PTA has clarified that users should pay special attention to their online security as even a minor negligence can lead to major losses.
